JOSHUA Mendez, a member of the Saipan Southern High School Class of 2020, recently completed U.S. Air Force Basic Military Training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, on June 26.
He is the son of Veronica and Fal Arriola, and the grandson of Pedro and Merita Arriola.
Mendez earned both the Basic Training Honor Graduate Ribbon and the Marksmanship Ribbon, and was recognized for his excellence in academic and physical training.
To earn the Basic Training Honor Graduate Ribbon, Mendez scored at least 90% on his physical fitness exam and at least 90% on all written examinations during training. Fewer than 10% of all Air Force BMT graduates are selected for this award.
Joshua Mendez, a Saipan Southern High School alumnus, is now an airman.
