SSHS librarian Sudi Q. Napalan said “the library continues to strive for better library collection and services for the students, teachers and the community. With the economic and financial challenge that our community faces, libraries become even more important — and indispensible.”
SSHS is the only school in the Northern Marianas to receive a grant from the foundation. This is the first time for Napalan to apply for this grant.
Lois Lenski, children’s book author and 1946 Newbery medalist for Strawberry Girl, had a life-long concern that all children have access to good books.
In pursuit of this goal she established a foundation to provide grants to agencies serving disadvantaged populations.
