THE officers and members of the Saipan Unity Lions Club surprised senior citizens at the Office on Aging’s manamko’ center on Dec. 17 with free haircuts and massages.
SULC marketing and community chair Reggie Borbon said their “Manamko’ Makeover” project was initiated by their club president, Carol Tamparong, in collaboration with local beautician Sharmaine Casquero.
At the manamko’ center, they provided 58 senior citizens with free haircuts, eyebrow shaving, and relaxing massages.
Borbon said they are “definitely coming back next year to again pamper our elderly members of the community at the manamko’ center.”
The senior citizens “wholeheartedly appreciated the free services,” Borbon said.
SULC members “can’t help but feel grateful — it was an extra special event and an incredible experience,” Borbon said.
“What’s a more thoughtful way to show our manamko’ that we care for them this Christmas? A day of pampering, free haircuts, shaved eyebrows, ironed hair, new hairstyles, and soothing massages — all courtesy of the Saipan Unity Lions Club and a team of dedicated beauticians, barbers and masseurs from the local community,” Borbon said.
On behalf of SULC, Borbon expressed appreciation to all the “awesome volunteers who dedicated their free time to collaborate with us in this project.”
Besides Casquero, the other volunteers were Rosemarie Marzan, Jethro Edwin de Guzman, Kenji Lajara and Remyl Jhan Raymundo.
