The hotel’s local sales and press relations manager and public relations Michael Babauta said each student will get $1,000 and enroll at Northern Marianas College.
The students had a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Saipan World Resort said the scholarship aims to increase the number of skilled and trained individuals in the CNMI.
Babauta said the scholarships are awarded based on merit, eligibility, content of each student’s written essay, and principal’s recommendation.
The applicants were asked to write an essay regarding their experiences and interest in the hotel and tourism industry. The essays were scored on grammar, structure, content, creativity and originality.
The five scholarship recipients were chosen after a careful review and scoring by the selection committee.
