Salas vows to deliver quality port services

THE reappointed chief of the Commonwealth Ports Authority renewed yesterday his commitment to ensure that the agency continue to deliver quality port services to the public at the lowest possible cost despite the prevailing economic slump on the islands.

CPA Executive Director Carlos H. Salas also expressed thanks to CPA Board of Directors led by Chairman Roman S. Palacios and the CPA Employees Association for endorsing him to be retained on his post.

Salas sought the help of the board and the employees to effectively carry out port functions at its best despite the crisis.

“With your support and assistance, the management and I are ready to move forward and implement aggressive programs to continue improving our port facilities, to be steps ahead of critical issues, to further position CPA as a top competitor in the region…,” Salas told the board directors.

In a separate letter to the CPA Employee Association which Fire Chief Stanley Torres Jr. leads, Salas said among his top priorities is improving CPA’s working relationship with its tenants and upgrading port workers’ skills.

“This new term for me means renewed and strengthened commitment to CPA, tenants, the traveling public and you as CPA employees,” Salas said.

“My aim, with the support of the CPA board and management, is to further improve our working relationship with our port tenants, further position CPA to be more competitive in our region and to continue enhancing the skills (of) our employees through training to meet the highest professional standards,” he added.
