Asiata said Tuilaepa has no right to say Fiji should dissolve its army.
He said it was wrongful interference in the affairs of a sovereign country, echoing the response from Fiji’s interim government telling Samoa to mind its own business.
Not only is wrong, Asiata said, it was interference based on a wrong view.
“That’s what I call stupid interference,” Asiata told Samoan Observer.
Tuilaepa said coups will continue until the military dissolves itself for the sake of their country.
“There are many countries that have armies where things like this (coups) do not happen,” Asiata said.
“It’s not the army but the person. So don’t blame the army,” he added. “There are many countries that have armies — India, New Zealand, Australia, America.”
Asiata said “an army is formed to protect a country but some people use it wrongfully — to be cruel to the people in the country. So it’s the person who causes wrongdoing.”
According to Tuilaepa, “Countries that have no armies are the ones that are most peaceful.”
