Rita Carreon, kindergarten teacher and event organizer, said it was the first time they held the event on the beach.
Traditionally, the promotion ceremony is either conducted in the school cafeteria or in the kindergarten classroom, she said.
But yesterday’s event was unique because there were entertainment, games, food and prizes for the children and their parents, Carreon said.
Lorraine Babauta, another kindergarten teacher, said they wanted the children to relax after all their hard work in the classroom.
Carreon said the kindergarten students initiated a fundraising activity for the prizes, entertainment and games.
They generated more than $300 from the fund drive.
After the promotion ceremony, teachers, parents and the children participated in the games at their mini-carnival.
Dino Taitano, special education teacher, was the master of ceremony.
The Marianas High School Chamorro Club also performed a special number.
San Antonio Elementary School principal Katrina Lizama led the presentation of certificates after the kindergarten class performed a dance number.
Seven students received a special award for perfect attendance: Arriem Jay Aque, Jason Briones, Nicolai Hernandez, Bernadette Quitaneg, John Llyod Ramos, Mark Reginio, and Mary Frances Tenorio.
