“So far, the only help I have are three hard-working little girls, who’ve been helping me set up for it and can only come after school on a few of the Give-Away days. But I need at least one helper for each day, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and then from 3 to 6 p.m., since I can’t possibly do it all alone,” she said.
The center will be open daily, at the hours listed above, from this coming Sunday, Dec. 12, till Christmas Eve, maïa said for parents in need to come and select one nice donated gift for each child in the family.
“I have to be in my home side of the duplex, to let them in and explain how it works, so a helper is needed in the Donation Center side, to show them around and help them select the gifts, and I can’t be in both places at once.
Especially since several families often come at the same time.”
Anyone who can give a few hours of their time for this very worthy and much needed program is asked to please call maïa at 433-9993 as soon as possible, so the fifth annual gift program can succeed.
“If I don’t have at least one helper for each day, from Dec. 12 till the 24th, I may be forced to stay closed during the time I have no helper,” maïa said, “because at seventy-two years old, I am just not able to do all of this without any help.”
