THE Senate on Friday unanimously adopted the report of Senate Committee on Executive Appointments and Governmental Investigations recommending the confirmation of former Rep. Rosemond B. Santos-Sword to the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. board of directors.
All eight senators present voted in favor of the adoption of the committee report submitted by the committee chairman, Sen. Frank Q. Cruz, during the Senate session on Friday. Sen. Celina R. Babauta was excused.
In his report, Cruz said that after a review and consideration of the testimonies, the committee recommended the confirmation of Santos-Sword’s nomination to the CUC board to represent the Third Senatorial District and the CNMI women.
He said his committee examined all pertinent documents relating to the executive appointment of Santos-Sword. Written and oral testimonies were provided to the committee supporting her confirmation, the senator added.
Based on the overall assessment of Santos-Sword’s credentials, experiences and testimonies, and other issues considered, the committee recommended her confirmation.
Nominated by Gov. Arnold I. Palacios on Valentine’s Day, Santos-Sword is an attorney who also served as one of the first two House members elected to represent the residents of Precinct 5, which was created as a result of redistricting in 2007.
