She has introduced a bill that will ensure the preservation of the legacy of the late Dr. Rita Hocog Inos “and her dedication, achievements, contributions and commitment to the CNMI Public School System.”
On Aug. 25, the Board of Education approved the merger of Dr. Rita Hocog Inos Junior High School and Rota High School.
“In light of the BOE’s decision to merge the two schools, it would only be fitting that [Inos’s] name be kept,” Santos said.
She said her bill will amend Rota Local Law 17-6 which renamed Rota Junior High School in Songsong to Dr. Rita Hocog Inos Junior High School.
To retain the late educator’s name, Santos wants the merged school to be called “Dr. Rita Hocog Inos Junior/Senior High School.”
“This is in recognition and appreciation of her untiring and outstanding contributions to the PSS and to the people of the commonwealth,” she said, referring to Inos.
