This means that the eight- to 10-hour power outage on Sunday, Dec. 14, will not happen.
The official who refused to be identified, said the new schedule will depend on Aggreko.
Executive Director Antonio S. Muna earlier said that not all of the company’s 15 megawatts will be off-line during the maintenance period which will last for a day.
The maintenance is necessary to make sure that Aggreko’s equipment continues to be hundred percent operational, Muna added.
Aggreko’s maintenance, he said, will not affect the power distribution of the island because other power plants will continue to generate power.
There are feeders and grid that will experience the power interruption while others will not, he added.
Aggreko, which is paid by CUC over $500,000 a month, is producing 15 megawatts while Power Plant 1 is generating only 8.5 megawatts. Power Plant 4, which is managed by the Pacific Marine and Industrial Corp., is generating 14.7 megawatts.
CUC has to produce 40 megawatts to satisfy the island’s peak load but with no reserve.
