Scheduled water service interruption for As Terlaje and Kannat Tabla tank service areas on Aug. 21

(Commonwealth Utilities Corporation) — There is a scheduled water service interruption on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Areas affected: As Terlaje and Kannat Tabla tank service areas.

Purpose:  To allow CUC’s contractor, CorePlus Construction, to connect a new six-inch PVC pipe and eight-inch DI pipes for the Model 10 Granulated Activated Carbon filter system.

About the project

The Isley Field and Obyan Wells Granulated Activated Carbon or GAC Water Filtration System project is funded by the U.S.  Economic Development Administration and the Department of the Interior, Office of Insular Affairs.  This project involves installing GAC filters to mitigate the public health risks associated with PFOS and PFOA groundwater contamination. These systems will effectively remove PFOA and PFOS from the contaminated wells, reducing their concentrations below health advisory limits and ensuring higher water quality for the community.

Customers in these areas will experience low to no water pressure between the specified hours. Please allow one to two hours for the water lines to fully pressurize.

CUC apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and will continue to work diligently to provide reliable services for its customers.
