SDA students, staff thank scholarship sponsor

School principal Michael Berglund, his students, faculty members and other school staff thanked the clinic headed by  Ken Pierson for sponsoring a scholarship program.

This school year, according to Verlie Gayotin, the school’s accountant and public relations director, they received $28,000 from the SDA Clinic.

“The clinic has been very generous to us,” Berglund said.

The clinic also assisted the school in its infrastructure and building improvement projects, he added.

Berglund is hoping the clinic will increase its funding for the scholarship program to benefit more students.

Pierson said they plan to increase  funding.

The scholarship program ensures that its beneficiaries get a Christian education.

Pierson said education is very important for a person to be able to learn and grow as a good member of the community.

During yesterday’s brief ceremony, the students read their letters of appreciation to the clinic.

The school also presented a plaque of appreciation to Pierson and the clinic administration.

The scholars are Malinda John, Wina Kios, Parker Callier, Raesyl Solis, John Paul Nimer, Christina Selkor, Ivan Sitchon, Shaquille Calub, Ava and Donaven Deleon Guerrero, Mariol Lopez, Sephson Lakjohn, Danielle Hernandez, Joy Pena and Pauline Nimer.

SDA School has 70 students this year, while its Child Development Center has 32 children.

Berglund encourages other organizations to sponsor or initiate a scholarship program for their students.
