Second term for Sorroza on manamko’ council

“I will try to accomplish more during my second term,” Sorroza said, after the election witnessed by Aging Office Director Rose Mondala and center program coordinator Walter Manglona.

Sorroza said she will work closely with the new set of officers on programs that benefit congregates.

Because they have practically all the equipment they need — games paraphernalia, computers, video and camera — the council will focus more on travels for the senior citizens in their fundraising campaigns, she added.

Sorroza said they have an upcoming pageant for the manamko’ which will be one of their major events.

Other officers that were elected were Maria Salinas, as vice chairwoman; Elena Villanueva as secretary; and Christiana Michael as treasurer.

In an interview, Salinas said she was very grateful for her nomination and election.

“I’m always prepared to assume responsibility,” she said.

The council members who will be appointed as chairs of the different standing committees are Rita Reyes, Alejandra Blas, Meryalen Conrad, and Siyau Muna.

Manuel Mesa is the council sergeant at arms.

Before the election, Manglona briefed the members about their duties and  responsibilities.

The officers will begin their term on Sept. 30.

Mondala said she was satisfied with the outcome of the election.

She told the officers to be always present at the center and collaborate with her office.

“I want accurate monthly reports,” she said.

On Sept. 6, the congregates elected the council’s eight members.

Yesterday, the eight chose the new officers.
