AS part of Women’s History Month celebration in March, Sen. Corina L. Magofna is urging CNMI women to celebrate their strength, resilience and brilliance.
In a statement to Variety, Magofna said, “Today, I would like to express my humble gratitude to our women of the past, present, and future for their sacrifices, courage, contributions, inspiration, wisdom and innovation.”
“All my beautiful ladies,” she added, “let us celebrate our strength, our resilience, and our brilliance. Women are the backbone of families, the driving force of communities, and the pioneers of change.”
Magofna said sometimes “we forget just how special and important we are.”
“But let me remind you that we are the heartbeat of progress, we are the architects of change, and we are the strength that holds families, communities, and nations together. We lead with courage, we rise against adversity, and we definitely shape the future with wisdom and resilience,” Magofna said.
She quoted former first lady Michelle Obama, who said, “There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish.”
Magofna said “every breakthrough, every shattered ceiling, every bold step forward is a testament to the unstoppable power of women.”
But empowerment isn’t just about breaking barriers — it’s about lifting others as they climb, Magofna said.
She also quoted Oprah Winfrey, who reminded women to “step out of the history that is holding you back. And step into the new story you are willing to create.”
“So today, let us honor our women who came before us, support our women beside us, and most importantly, inspire our women who will follow. Because when we rise, the world rises with us,” Magofna said.
