Senate confirms Faisao as DCCA secretary

His nomination breezed through confirmation process after Gov. Benigno R. Fitial turned in his appointment to the Senate Committee on Executive Appointments and Governmental Operations.

“The lt. governor and I are confident that you will perform the duties of the secretary of the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs commcndably and ensure that the objective and mission of the department are fully realized at this critical time,” wrote the governor in a letter endorsing Faisao’s nomination.

The Senate also confirmed Emma S. Villagomez and Marian Aldan-Pierce as members of the Marianas Visitors Authority board of directors.

Likewise, the senators confirmed the reappointment of Pedro I. Itibus as member of the Commonwealth Development Authority board of directors.

Itibus will serve another four-year term which expires on Sept. 5, 2013.

All appointees have submitted copies of their resumés, financial statements, drug test receipts and police clearance.

The police clearance is now required after the Variety reported that one of the reappointed commissioners of the Commonwealth Election Commission had a pending criminal case.
