Donald M. Hofschneider will serve on the Commonwealth Election Commission for four years or up to Oct. 21, 2011.
Hofschneider is a fiscal officer of the Tinian Casino Gaming Control Commission.
Gov. Benigno R. Fitial nominated Hofschneider on Thursday.
“The lt. governor and I are confident that Mr. Hofschneider is qualified and will be an asset on this important board,” the governor told Senate President Pete P. Reyes, R-Saipan.
Hofschneider succeeds Jose Kiyoshi whose term recently expired.
The commission has nine members — two each from Tinian and Rota and five from Saipan.
When counting the ballots, the commissioners from the three major islands must be present.
