Gov. Benigno R. Fitial has nominated Inos — the son of the Rota Mayor Joseph S. Inos — to fill the vacancy on the Superior Court.
Attorney Inos has been accused of “receiving split checks for under $5,000 to circumvent procurement laws.”
In an interview on Friday, Hocog, R-Rota, said: “It is the committee’s responsibility to look into this allegation, and investigate the validity of any complaint or any accusation regarding any nominee.”
The committee will conduct a public hearing and solicit testimony regarding attorney Inos’ nomination, Hocog said.
“We may ask the CNMI Bar Association to appear before the committee,” he added, after reading a letter claiming “that Mr. Inos is not respected by his peers.”
Earlier, a member of the committee, Sen. Henry H. San Nicolas, Covenant-Tinian, said attorney Inos should be given the opportunity to defend himself and explain his side of the story.
