U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Alex R. Munson set Nestor Taitano Camacho’s sentencing for Aug. 4 instead of Aug. 11.
On May 4, the defendant appeared in court for a change of plea.
He waived his right to speedy trial, which the court granted.
The defendant was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation with Lukas Taitano Manglona, who is his brother, and Kisha Lyn Masga King after they were indicted on Feb. 26, 2009.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office stated that the three defendants used counterfeit bills on Jan. 12, 2009 to defraud four establishments on Saipan — Tapo Fashion, Koblerville Shell gas Station, Fashion Avenue and Nang Ocha Store in San Vicente.
Taitano gave fake $50 bills to his co-defendants to be used in buying several items and getting the change back from them afterward, the prosecution stated.
On June 24, Munson sentenced King to three years probation.
She was also ordered to perform 100 hours of community service, pay $150 in restitution to Tapo Shopping and Fashion Avenue, and a special assessment fee of $400.
Manglona is still awaiting his sentencing.
