Govendo also directed Castro, 33, to immediately register as a sex offender within 24 hours after his release.
Castro, a Susupe resident, had to issue a $900 unsecured bond.
Govendo expressed his dismay that Castro had not complied even after the police informed him to register.
Yesterday, Castro appeared for his bail hearing in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
On Wednesday, police arrested Castro for his non-compliance with the Sex Offender Registry requirements.
Assistant Attorney General William Downer represented the government while Assistant Public Defender Michael Brown was Castro’s counsel.
Records showed that Castro entered a guilty plea to the offense of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree on May 27, 2003.
Castro last registered as a sex offender on May 5, 2009 and was supposed to re-register in Aug. 2009.
On Feb. 13, 2010, Detectives Jesse Dubrall and Melinda Villanueva met with Castro to remind him to register.
Five days later, Officers Eric David and Jason Tarkong visited Castro’s last known address in As Terlaje to update his records.
Days later, Tarkong, officer-in-charge of the Sex Offenders Registry and Crime Stoppers coordinator, again reminded Castro, through the defendant’s former wife, to register.
