A student from Northern Marianas College confirmed she received her check yesterday which was supposed to be released last week.
The distribution of 147 checks started on Tuesday afternoon, Hofschneider said, and it will continue until all checks are disbursed to students and to NMC.
Some students have authorized NMC to pick their checks which will be mailed today
Hofscneider said the total amount to be distributed is $223,500 for 147 students.
63 of the students are studying outside the CNMI while 84 are on-island.
Twelve are enrolled at the Northern Marianas Trades Institute.
The NMTI students are getting $800 each, Hofschneider added.
He said some off-island recipients have authorized their parents and relatives to pick up their checks.
The checks are for grant-in-aid assistance.
