Shokigakuen to hold 24th pilgrimage in Marpi

Pacific Development Inc. director Gordon I. Marciano said about 50 members of the group will be there, but they are also inviting members of the community to come and join the event.

Twenty-two years ago, the Reverend  Teruhiko Kawakami believed he had to pray for those who lost their lives during the war and those who survived.

Marciano said although the reverend has passed on, his legacy continues through the Shikogakuen group now led by his nephew Rev. Masakazu Kawakami.

Marciano said this year marks the 22nd anniversary of the construction of Shikogakuen monument at Banzai Cliff, and the 24th anniversary of the Shikogakuen pilgrimage to Saipan.
