SHRM meeting to focus on immigration law and workforce visas

(SHRM) — The Society for Human Resource Management-Northern Marianas Chapter is pleased to announce its August 2025 general membership meeting or GMM featuring Bruce Mailman, attorney at Mailman & Kara, LLC. The event will take place on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025, at Charley’s Cabaret, Pacific Islands Club Saipan, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with a complimentary breakfast buffet for registered attendees available from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Attorney Mailman, a seasoned expert in employment-based immigration, will lead a timely discussion on the latest updates regarding CW-1 visas, provide guidance on other available workforce visa categories, and offer insight into current labor law developments impacting both employers and employees.

Mailman is a seasoned attorney and co-founder of Mailman & Kara, LLC, with over three decades of legal experience in the CNMI. A graduate of the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco, Mailman has built a distinguished career with a focus on immigration law, particularly following the implementation of U.S. immigration laws in the CNMI in 2009. He is a long-standing member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the American Bar Association. His firm continues to support employers, employees, and families with immigration guidance, as well as matters related to real property, business formation, and corporate law.

“Understanding the complexities of immigration law is essential for today’s workforce leaders,” said Roman Tudela, SHRM-NMI Chapter president. “We’re honored to welcome back Attorney Mailman to share his expertise with our members and community, especially as visa regulations continue to evolve. This GMM is part of our continued effort to provide relevant and practical HR knowledge to empower our local professionals.”

The GMM is open to both SHRM members and non-members. Entry fee is $40 for SHRM-NMI members and $45 for future members. Advance registration is required, and attendees are strongly encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the breakfast buffet.
