Skateboarders urge youth to join graffiti cleanup

“Volunteers will be pretty much appreciated,” ISK8 president Johanna Arellano said in her letter to the Variety.

It will the third grafitti cleanup for ISK8, a non-profit organization.

Arellano said volunteers are already signing up but ISK8 is looking for more.

Misunderstood

Skaters are often blamed for the graffiti on island, Arellano said.

ISK8 is doing its best to improve its image, she added.

ISK8, for example, is trying hard to maintain the good condition of the skate park, she said.

According to Arellano, it is fun  to work with their group members in planning events.

“I’ve learned to take responsibility and the experience taught me how to keep an open mind toward everyone,” she said.

ISK8 is always open to new members.

“We are accepting anyone  who would like to be a part of the group,”Arellano said.
