In a statement, Sogavare labeled Prime Minister Derek Sikua’s decision as “pathetic and bad show for the so-called action-oriented government.”
SIBC reported that parliament was adjourned due to typing errors in two government bills, expected to be tabled to the House.
“The adjournments are a slap in the face of the so-called action-oriented…government. It is a lousy excuse to blame the adjournment on typing errors,” said Sogavare, who was ousted as prime minister.
He said it was the responsibility of ministers to ensure that bills are ready in time for presentation to parliament.
He said it’s also costly for the government to keep ordinary MPs in Honiara for parliament meetings.
