Solomons’ Sikua enters new deal with NZ

He revealed this after a private meeting with visiting New Zealand Prime Minister John Key in Honiara.

“On the government level, we have just approved a ten-year partnership program which should run from 2009 to 20019,” he told Solomon Star.

The new partnership is aimed at improving the livelihood of the people of Solomon Islands and expands broad base growth.

Earlier, Sikua signed similar partnerships with his Australian counterpart Kevin Rudd in Port Moresby on Monday.

Speaking to journalists, Key said this new partnership is for the future of Solomon Islands.

“New Zealand aided Solomon Islands in many ways especially in the education sector and our discussion was in relation to our relationship,” he said.

Sikua added New Zealand is one of the main funders of the government’s fee free education policy.
