Reports from Suva said the student was found dead in her room. She was identified as Linly Gali, from Malanaove Village, To’abaita, North Malaita.
Gali is a final year student studying for her bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory.
Solomon Islands Ministry of Education confirmed the death.
Permanent Secretary for Education Mylyn Kuve said they are aware and are waiting for instructions in Suva.
The cause of the death is not known. It’s understood the body has been taken to a Suva hospital for post-mortem.
Kuve said after the post mortem, arrangement will be made to bring the body home.
