He refused to identify his supporters.
When asked if he is willing to head the commission, Songao said: “I am ready and I think I can lead the commission.”
He said the commission, in its first meeting, will first formulate organization rules and regulations.
They will also discuss the hiring of a legal counsel and a consultant with ample experience and expertise in the casino industry, he added.
According to Songao, the commission will adopt a “business friendly policy” to entice more investors to do business on Rota.
“We’ll see to it our regulation are attractive and marketable,” he added.
He said they will ask Rota Mayor Joseph S. Inos to provide them with office space in any government building on the island.
On Monday, the Rota Municipal Council confirmed the appointment of Abelina T. Mendiola and Justin S. Manglona.
The nominations of Songao, Ephrem S. Taimanao, Melchor A. Mendiola were confirmed on March.
In response to Municipal Council Secretary Vicente Calvo’s earlier statement about the need for the commission to submit a budget proposal for its operation, Songao said they will immediately look into their financial requirements.
