In the high school division, ninth grader Lallane Guiao of SSHS was awarded the top honor; Shaun Kyle Butter of Hopwood was second place; and Daisy Lynn Demapan of Kagman High School won third prize.

In her winning essay, Guiao made a meaningful comparison between education and music.

“Education is a lifelong process that requires time for a person to fully prosper…like a band needs a group of instruments and musicians to make medleys,” Guiao wrote.

“In life, we need people to correlate with others using their talents and interest. Without it, we can never march to success…. As band members work together to produce beautiful music, so must we, if we want to achieve great things. Great things require great sacrifices.”

The student winners will also be honored and recognized during today’s Education Day celebration at Koblerville Elementary School.
