Other than being a great history teacher, Rasa’s relationship with the students and dedication to the school make her an exemplary educator, according to SSHS.
The senior advisor for the class of 2007, Rasa took over Close UP, the year book, the Junior Statesmen program and was the coach for the forensic students.
SSHS described her as “always active and could never say no to anybody.”
The school’s support staff of the year, Paul Camacho, is also its truant officer who plays a major role in ensuring the safety of SSHS.
Camacho has been working for the Home of the Manta Ray for the past four years and is respected by students, teachers and parents.
His sense of leadership, discipline and local know-how is shown in the hard work that he does on campus and is reflected with his relation with the students and staff, SSHS stated.
According to Ashley V. Alejo, a third period freshman English student, she’s a firm believer that in order for students to be successful in school, they must be provided a non-hostile work environment.
She said at SSHS, the administrators, support staff, teachers, and students take pride in maintaining a beautiful campus free of litter, graffiti and other unattractive elements.
“Our administrators lead the way by instilling proper values and a sense of pride throughout the campus,” she said.
SSHS also acknowledges the hard work of its support staffers Kevin Babauta, Camacho, Arnold Mendiola, Hilario Guiao, Jack Sanchez, and Raul Blanca.
Pedro Duenas, junior English student, said they also appreciate their school counselors.
“They are motivated to help each student with their needs wholeheartedly. Without these important people, my job as a student would be much more difficult than it already is. They encourage me to take classes that are to benefit my studies and which will later help me in the long run,” Duenas said.
SSHS, he added, would not be what it is “without our astounding counselors Darrah Tagabuel, Joleen Borja, and Jocelyn Manibusan.”
“These women make up the heart of SSHS,” Duenas said. “I know further down the road, other students will experience the true meaning of passion through these counselors. They have made a big impact in our lives and I will be forever thankful for what they have done.”
Donna Mae C. Formalejo, another English student, honored all their classroom teachers.
“Behind each teacher is a unique and enthusiastic individual,” she said. “Our elite group of teachers each has a track record for being the loudest, funniest, tallest, shortest, or any other superlative person on campus. From their height — tall or short, to their volume, to their sense of humor, to their ethnic background, to their personal preferences, SSHS teacher personalities definitely stand out.”
