Still no charges filed in fatal auto crash

Department of Public Safety spokesman Dre Pangelinan on Monday told Variety the case had been forwarded to the Attorney General’s Office and any inquiries about it should be directed to the AG’s office.

Variety was unable to get a comment from the AG’s office.

DPS earlier stated that speed was the cause of the crash and that the driver whose SUV slammed into Apostol’s sedan was a minor.

On Dec. 16, 2019 Sergio Apostol was driving a green Nissan Sentra that was turning into Puerto Rico Shell Gas Station when a northbound beige/gold Toyota Highlander hit the sedan.

Apostol sustained life-threatening injuries, and after three days in intensive care unit, he died following a cardiac arrest.

A construction worker, Apostol, 62, was originally from Antique, in the central Philippines and had been on Saipan for more than 30 years.
