Student volunteers assist manamko’ visitors

The manamko’ told the students about how it was back in the days and together they made artwork, danced and sang.

Josie Kaipat, who teaches NMI history to 10th graders, said she felt “that this would be a good activity for them to tie into what they are learning in the classroom.”

She said it is like having a date with “nang” and “tang.”

“I asked my students to come and volunteer to take them around and I’m very happy because there’s a big turnout. I was expecting only like 10 of them but there’s like 22 students who signed up,” she said.

The students took the manamko’ to their second period classes.

During the students’ third period, the manamko’ shared their stories as well as sang to the students.

“This is the second time that we had this activity. It is a really nice activity,” Kaipat said.
