Chacha Ocean View Jr. High School principal Vince Dela Cruz said his students are taking the policy very well now but are still not thrilled about it.
“I think it’s good for the students. We’ve seen less trash on our campus after the canteen closed and it brings peace of mind to know the kids are eating the cafeteria’s nutritious foods instead of the unhealthy items sold in bake sales,” Sid Dela Cruz in an interview with Variety.
However, others are still opposed to the new policy.
A parent who declined to be identified said PSS is not allowing the children to make their own decisions.
“It’s enough that the system is presently restrictive as is. PSS feels no shame for taking away the school spirit! The fundraisers also enable the full functioning of clubs and travel opportunities for the kids. They have nothing to look forward to now except for the approval of their PTSA,” said the parent.
Students interviewed by this reporter said they are beginning to accept the inevitable. But they also hope to bring their concerns to PSS and the Legislature.
