‘Survivor Japan’ to hold site inspection this week

THE producer of “Suvivor Japan” will do a location hunting this week in the CNMI for the filming of its third episode.

According to Eric Plinske, Small Business Development Center director, the production outfit will be in the CNMI from July 11 to 14.

“They will check potential sites to determine which is the ideal place for the show,” Plinske said.

Earlier, the producer expressed interest to do the project on Anatahan, the Northern Island where some 15 Japanese survivors were discovered seven years after the end of World War II.

The producer reportedly found Anatahan more “challenging” than Saipan.

The Marianas Visitors Authority hopes that the producer would consider Rota for its many natural attractions and accessibility.

“We would suggest that they visit Rota to see whether they’d like it there,” MVA Deputy Managing Director Vicky I. Benavente said.

Plinske said the decision regarding the location is entirely up to the producer.

Plinske said “it would be great” if the CNMI government could provide a chopper for the visiting team in its trip to Anatahan.

“It’s all part of the efforts to revive the film industry in the CNMI,” he said.

Hiromi Goto, associate producer of “Survivor Japan,” said the CNMI was suggested to become the next location for the show.

The film outfit recently finished the filming of its last episode in Palau.
