THE Department of Public Safety has identified the person responsible for threatening Northern Marianas College on April 2, Assistant Chief of Police Simon Manacop said.
“She has confessed [to] being responsible for the messages posted on Instagram,” Manacop said. “Suspect was not arrested. Details of the incident will be provided to the prosecutor’s office for their disposition.”
Manacop said DPS will continue to provide routine checks at NMC.
In a release on Monday, NMC said investigation confirmed DPS’ “earlier assessment that there is no credible threat at this time to the safety of NMC students and employees.”
On Friday, Variety reported on a screenshot of an Instagram story post by the account @kirowantsrevenge_, which read, “NMC just wait” followed by a gun emoji.
Manacop said this was the post that launched the investigation.
In an advisory NMC said it continues to work collaboratively with DPS.
“We encourage all students and employees to remain vigilant and to always report suspicious activity to NMC faculty and staff. To support ongoing safety efforts, follow these important guidelines:
“If you encounter an imminent threat or danger, call 911.
“Remain aware of your surroundings and report any suspicious activity immediately to NMC Security at (670) 287-4218 or DPS at 911.
“Stay connected by checking your official NMC emails and other official communications.
“Follow campus safety protocols and instructions from NMC and DPS officials.”
