Taijeron to get $75K a year

According to documents submitted to the Legislature, Gov. Benigno R. Fitial approved Attorney General Edward Buckingham’s recommendation that Taijeron be paid $75,000 annually.

House legal counsels get $60,000-$65,000 a year.

“I hereby certify and grant my approval to allow…Taijeron…to receive an annual salary exceeding the $50,000 cap set by the Compensation Adjustment Act. Mr. Taijeron will be receiving $75,000 per annum,” Fitial wrote in a memorandum addressed to Senate President Pete P. Reyes and Speaker Arnold I. Palacios.

In a memorandum, Buckingham instructed the acting director of the Office of Personnel Management to waive the announcement of the deputy attorney general in favor of Taijeron’s appointment. Fitial concurred.

As the deputy AG, Taijeron is tasked to supervise all the divisions within the AG’s office and is the primary legal counsel for the departments of the executive branch.
