“The event features members of the community from various employment sectors, describing their work and their role in their respective agencies. This activity is for all grade levels. What the Student Council did is they surveyed the students what career they are interested in,” said Francisca C. Ulloa, principal of Tanapag Elementary School
“Career Week is when people with different jobs come to our school and tells us about it,” said Student Council president Ana Mo Lieto who is in sixth grade.
She wants to become a lawyer or a cardiologist.
“I want to take care of people because the heart is the most important organ. You need it to stay alive,” she said.
Monday’s guest speakers were Alfred Ada, principal of Kagman High School, and Commissioner of Education Rita Sablan.
Ada “talked about how it was being a principal because he has been a principal for nine years. And he is even a teacher. I want to be a principal too,” said Magdalena Lieto, Student Council publicity director, who is in fourth grade.
Marie Lieto, Student Council vice president and a fifth grader, wants to be an educator.
“I want to teach children,” she said.
Fifth grader Benellen S. Camacho, Student Council historian, wants to be a lawyer.
“Lawyers talk a lot and I’m good at talking,” she said
Student Council secretary Daniele Marie C. Manzanades, a fifth grader, wants to become a doctor.
“I want to help people that are sick and treat them,” she said.
Candy Quijano, Student Council treasurer and a sixth grader, wants to be an education commissioner.
“I want to make sure that students come to school and learn so they can have jobs,” she said.
According to Ulloa, “What we did different this year is that Tuesdays and Thursdays the students are going on a field trip. So it is nice actually to see what careers are out there. It is something that the kids are interested in finding out.”
