Taotao Tano asks for complete revamp of CUC leadership

CUC Executive Director Antonio Muna and the power firm review committee members should resign for they “intentionally and deliberately” running the power plants in manner that is detrimental to the community, Cruz said.

“The mismanagement, self-interest and illegal sole-source contracts of CUC’s leadership have affected the public service, public health, safety and the general welfare of the entire community,” he added.

Cruz said Muna and the Fitial administration failed to achieve their goal of 81.2 megawatts or 90 percent power generation capacity.

All contracts signed by CUC with DCM Group and Commonwealth Industry Supply Company to rehabilitate and repair the power plants have failed, Cruz said.

CUC, he added, have all the technical and financial experts but “they don’t have certified internal mechanical and electrical engineers to assess the mechanical and electrical aspects of all our power plants.”

“It is evident,” Cruz said, “that CUC is now functioning and being mismanaged by the administration-owned internal review committee.”

Cruz recommends the creation of a community volunteer assessment team whose members are qualified and certified in the fields of electrical and mechanical engineering.

“This is the only solution to the current predicaments we face today,” he said.
