Taotao Tano embraces federalization, urges unity

if the federal government will do a good job of establishing strict border controls.

Greg Cruz Jr., Taotao Tano president, issued the statement after Allen Stayman, a senior staffer of the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, told the Variety that the federalization law will not grant permanent residency or “green cards” to guest workers in the CNMI.

“It’s time to embrace the reality of S. 2739 and let us move forward to a better commonwealth,” he said, as he expressed his appreciation to Stayman for “clarifying” the green card issue.

Stayman told Variety that “there is no provision in Public Law 110-229 providing green cards to guest workers.”

“This is what we are fighting for,” Cruz said, adding that Stayman’s clarification should finally end all public protests.

“All these protests in the community such as unity marches, candle vigils, signature drives and so forth must end,” Cruz said.

“The reputation of our homeland that has been damaged but it is now time for the people of the commonwealth to rebuild restore and repair the reputation of our homeland that has been damaged by the false promises by human rights advocates,” he added.
