Taxi group vows to again provide free services in future elections

On Tuesday, Rabby Syed, the taxi group president, said they made 12 trips in providing free rides to voters.

“All of our passengers are local residents. They have no complaints getting free rides,” he said.

He said they got the first call at 7:30 a.m. The last request for free rides was received at 6 p.m.

Syed said the passengers were thankful because they were  provided with roundtrip free rides.

“We picked up passengers from Kagman and brought them to San Antonio, from Navy Hill to Dandan, from San Vicente to Koblerville,” he said.

Their group is committed to get involved in more “big events” on  island as part of its community service, he said.

Syed said their group is also thankful to the community for patronizing their services.

Their group, he said, felt it has the responsibility to encourage community members to exercise their right to vote.

“We are committed to be part of the electoral process,” he said.

Now that the congressional election is over, Syed, as president of the United Workers Movement, said they are also hoping that re-elected Congressman Gregorio C.  Sablan will look into the plight of guest workers.

“We congratulate him for winning a second term in office,” he said.
