Department of Public Safety spokesman PO2 Eric David said Criminal Investigation Bureau’s detectives found the car, a 2004 silver Toyota Corolla with license plate ADJ 932, on the parking lot of the former Shirley’s Restaurant on Middle Road in Chalan Laulau at about 11 a.m.
24-year-old taxi driver Qi Run Li was last seen driving toward the vicinity of Gold’s Gym.
It’s now a missing person case, David said.
“Our detectives found the car unsecured,” David said, adding that the vehicle’s doors were unlocked and the windows were rolled up.
“Our technicians are still processing the vehicle,” David said.
David said CIB detectives are still investigating the case.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is always ready to help the department, he added.
He said police were still determining whether Qi Run Li was operating an illegal taxi cab.
Police learned that on Monday evening, at around 7:30 p.m., Li received a call on his cell phone from a customer requesting for taxi service. The customer wanted to be dropped off at Gold’s Gym in Chinatown.
