Teen charged for smashing windshield of limousine

Superior Court Judge Kenneth L. Govendo imposed a $10,000 bail on Catalino V. Cangco of San Jose, Tinian, and ordered him to observe a 7 p.m.-6 a.m. curfew.

He also ordered Cangco to obey all commonwealth and federal laws, and have no direct contact with the driver, Rodel Manlulu.

Presiding Judge Robert Naraja issued a warrant of arrest against Cangco on July 22.

Naraja based his warrant of arrest on the affidavit of Detective Chad Palacios who stated that they received a call for police assistance at 12:57 a.m. on July 15 from Manlulu.

Manlulu told Palacios that after he dropped passengers at the Tinian West Airport, he headed back to Tinian Dynasty Hotel and Casino and was passing by the jungle near Star Plaza when he heard a loud thump on the passenger side of the vehicle.

Palacios said when Manlulu slowed down to check where the noise came from, he saw a large rock flying toward the windshield of the car, smashing it.

Pieces of glass hit Manlulu’s face.

When he got out of the car, he saw three individuals running across the road toward Housing Turnkey.

He then went to JJDM Minimart and called for police assistance.

Three days later, Palacios said he interviewed a witness who told him that Vicente Sablan Jr., Raymond Borja and Cango  threw rocks at passing cars on July 15.

The witness said he heard three rocks hit the right passenger door and the windshield of the limousine that Manlulu was driving.

Palacios said the boys admitted throwing rocks at the limousine.

Govendo set the preliminary hearing for Aug. 4 and the arraignment for Aug.11.
