Teen on probation gets 90 days for theft

Naraja credited the time Garrido, 19, served in the Department of Corrections facility from Feb. 24 to May 25, 2011.

Garrido will be placed on three years probation, and was ordered to pay a $100 fine, a $25 court fee, and a $300 probation fee.

The Adult Probation Office will determine the amount of restitution Garrido will pay to his victim, the court added.

Garrido will write a letter of apology to his victims.

Garrido will not have any contact with his victims and any family or others who reside with the victim in Tanapag, and he must stay away from the Evangelista residence and property in Tanapag.

Chief Prosecutor Michael Ernest represented the government during the change of plea hearing yesterday while Garrido was represented by Assistant Public Defender Douglas Hartig.

Garrido, then 18 and on supervised probation until his 21st birthday for a juvenile case, was arrested in connection with burglary and theft case on Jan. 28 in Tanapag.

On May 17, 2010, Judge Naraja issued an adjudication order that placed Garrido on supervised probation under the direction and supervision of the Office of the Juvenile Probation of the Division of Youth Services.
