ACTING Labor and Immigration Secretary Joaquin A. Tenorio has reversed an administrative decision ordering an alien worker to leave the CNMI. He granted her permission to stay for 45 more days and look for another employer.
Jing Cong’s renewal application was earlier rejected due to discrepancies in her papers, labor documents showed.
The worker appealed the decision, arguing that she had “no knowledge as to the preparation of the documents other than signing (them.)”
In his decision, Tenorio ordered Jing to pay a civil penalty of $500 to the CNMI Treasury.
Tenorio said Jing’s application should only be processed if it is proven that she has paid the penalty.
“Application will not be accepted without proof of civil penalty having been paid in full. Failure to secure transfer employment and comply with the provisions in this final order shall result in (Jing’s) immediate departure from the CNMI,” he said.
