The Saipan Team aims to attract remote workers, internet businesses to NMI

BADGER LLC, a Saipan-based software company, on Wednesday announced the launching of The Saipan Team, a web-based platform that provides resources to encourage and enable remote workers and internet businesses to relocate to the CNMI.

Badger LLC founder Vin Armani was among those who testified in the House session last week to express support for House Bill 23-103, which would amend the local tax code to remove “impediments to the attraction and retention of individuals and businesses participating in the global digital economy and global financial markets.”

He also informed House members about his new project — a website that provides a portal through which digital remote workers, startup internet businesses and “big tech” financial executives can get the necessary information and support so they can domicile in the CNMI and begin contributing to its tax base.

In an email to Variety on Wednesday, Armani said, “We have now launched!”

He said the platform provides a free business formation package containing all necessary forms and instructions for incorporating a new business in CNMI; a free, comprehensive 30-page guide to Saipan for new and prospective residents; and an annual paid membership to The Saipan Team that includes access to a private community of individuals located in the CNMI and around the world.

“We are an existing community of entrepreneurs who found our way to the Northern Mariana Islands in the last several years,” Armani said.

“We love living and doing business in the Commonwealth, but we saw that we could attract even more like-minded business people to join us here if we could just give them the resources that we, ourselves, have found most valuable,” he added.

In the coming months, Armani said The Saipan Team will add a portal that automates much of the process involved in incorporating a business in the CNMI and acquiring a business license. Additionally, he said, members will have access to a curated events calendar focused on building stronger bonds among internet-based entrepreneurs and remote workers who find their way to the CNMI.

According to William Davis, community director for The Saipan Team, “The X factor, for someone relocating their business and family to some place as seemingly remote and exotic as Saipan, is most definitely community. Our focus is not just on showing people the tax and business benefits of the Commonwealth, but on making sure that when they touch down on-island, they already have a group of peers to make them truly feel welcome and at home.”
