Three kiyas hit by unscheduled power interruption

The cause of the less than two-hour power outage was the distribution line, he said.

According to CUC’s initial report, a rusty machine bolt of the cross arm component of the electrical post wore away which resulted in the angle steel to tangle the primary line.

This caused the interruption of the overcurrent and ground faults in a circuit, he said.

Camacho said CUC immediately deployed repair and maintenance personnel who were able to restore power by 3:53 p.m. after it tripped off at 2:02 p.m.

Areas  affected were the entire grid of Kiya 1 comprising As Terlaje, Northern Marianas College, portions of Fina Sisu, San Vicente to the Botanical Garden,  lower Dandan homestead, upper, Dandan homested and Isley Field.

The areas of  As Lito, Koblerville, As Gonno, San Antonio and Afetnas, portions of Fina Sisu,  Chalan Kiya, San Jose, Oleai, Susupe, Mount Carmel and south to portions of Chalan Kanoa, all within the Kiya 2 and 4, were also affected.

Camacho said CUC apologizes for any inconvenience the unscheduled power outage brought to the community.
