Thunderbirds fly over Saipan today

At about 3 p.m., the Thunderbirds will perform a flyover at Saipan airport, with trailing smoke over the island while en route to the Andersen Air Force Base on Guam for the Team Andersen Air Show ‘09 on Wednesday, according to the 36th Wing Public Affairs’ statement.

Dubbed “Air Power over the Marianas,” this will be the first time the Air Force’s F-16 Demonstration Team will be on Guam in more than nine years, the statement added.

The Thunderbirds are the premier aerial demonstration team representing U.S. airmen worldwide.

The Thunderbirds are scheduled to perform precision and aerial maneuvers to exhibit the capabilities of the modern, high-performance F-16.

Additional aircraft from the Air Force and Navy will be conducting flyovers and demonstrations throughout the day.

There will also be many ground events and static displays to view up close.
