Tinian residents urge lawmakers to help them get cable TV, phone connections

One of the residents told Variety that since 2001 when the homestead lots were issued, “nobody has worked for the installation of our basic communication needs.”

“Some of us cannot afford a cell phone so we need a telephone. This is necessary especially in an emergency situation,” said the resident, who declined to be identified.

Cable TV is for entertainment but residents also need it, he added.

He said they already requested the assistance of the previous and the present municipal administrations.

If only there were other companies, he said, the telephone and cable TV company operating on Tinian would have extended already their services to the area.

“They should also look into our needs,” he said.

In Marpo Heights 1, he said, the residents have all the amenities they need.

He said if only a lawmaker resides in their area their request would have been addressed.

“I am hoping our lawmakers will help us facilitate the connection of our telephone lines and cable TV,” he said.
