Tinian to host training on traumatic brain injury

Thomas Camacho, the governor’s special assistant for the Office of Disability Policy & Programs, said the training, which will be held on Nov. 6-7 at the Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino, is open to the public.

A technical assistance specialist staff member will conduct the workshop through a federal grant.

The specialist will discuss the causes and effect of traumatic brain injury.

“Through this training you become familiar with the facts of traumatic brain injury, new [American with Disabilities Act] amendment, the reasonable accommodation provisions and essential functions of a particular job. Participants will also be able to identify abilities and limitations, barriers, and appropriate accommodations,” a media release stated.

“This training is made possible under the CNMI Traumatic Brain Injury Implementation Partnership Memorandum of Agreement and the Pacific ADA Center under a subcontract agreement in collaboration with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation and the Assistive Technology Project-CNMI Council on Developmental Disabilities,” Camacho said.
