Tip leads to arrest of 3 robbery suspects

A TIP from a concerned citizen led to the arrest of three male juveniles who allegedly robbed a poker arcade in Gualo Rai on Thursday morning.

Police recovered from the suspects the weapons used during the heist at Fun and Game Poker where an estimated $600 to $700 cash and $900 in coins was stolen. The money was also recovered.

The cashier at Fun and Game Poker told the police that she was in the booth at 5:45 a.m. when one of the suspects threw a rock, shattering the bottom portion of the front entrance door. She said the second suspect was wearing a black mask.

One of the suspects, armed with a machete, then jumped into the booth and asked for the money. After taking all the money from the booth, the suspects fled.

The cashier said she immediately called the police.

One of the responding police officers met a man near the old Japanese jail. The man informed the police officer that he spotted a “suspicious” blue Pathfinder parked in the area earlier that day and on Wednesday.

The man provided the officer with the license plate of the vehicle.

The police officer latter spotted the subject vehicle traveling on Middle Road in Puerto Rico.

The officer followed the vehicle and noticed that the occupants “were doing something inside.” He pulled the vehicle over near Joeten Dandan after he noticed that one of the three occupants was not wearing a seat belt.

Police officers observed that the occupants were trying to cover coins with a piece of clothing. The machete allegedly used in the robbery was found in the vehicle.

Investigators are looking into the possibility that the arrested persons were the same group of people involved in the recent robberies at poker arcades on the island.
